Je crie, donc je suis

SAINT JÉSUS ET TOUS SES ANGES: Louis Catorze has just chugged down my matcha latte. And I don’t mean he licked a bit; I mean he had a good, long drink, like a parched desert horse who hadn’t seen water for a week.

I heard the slurping noises but, because it was dark and I was engrossed in a film, I thought he was just having a wash. By the time I realised what was happening, two minutes had passed. He didn’t consume much overall but, for a cat of 3kg, it was probably the equivalent of doing a line of coke.

Having alternated between drinking lots of water and chasing imaginary (at least I hope they’re imaginary) prey, the little sod now seems normal. But I daren’t leave him alone in case he has a seizure and dies of caffeine poisoning.

I also daren’t leave any drink alone, ever again. Whatever next? Strong coffee? Absinthe shots? You’ve already seen what he’s like without those things. Imagine him WITH them?

Actually, no, don’t imagine him with them.

Cat Daddy, without looking up from his phone: “You do realise that cats aren’t meant to have caffeine?” Thanks for that.

Anyway, after a manic morning of screaming, attacking my feet and trying to chew through my phone charger whilst it was still plugged in, Catorze had a good old sleep and was then ready for more. More of what, exactly, we don’t know. More caffeine or more mischief? Yes and yes.

*EDIT: later that evening, the little shit wrestled me with all his might for my cupcake. When I gave him a piece a quarter the size of my little fingernail, to teach him a lesson, he ate the lot. Yes, including the icing. Oh God.

Well that’s a new one on me! Never heard of a cat stealing anything but water from a cup or glass. But cake? Yes of course. Alice’s Theo is a cake feind. You cannot turn your back on the kitchen for a second if there’s birthday cake around because he knows instantly that one is being sliced up and as you take some out of the kitchen all nicely placed on tea plates for everyone he’ll be in the cake! He will chew a cake box to gain access, he adores the stuff and who can blame him, cake is the stuff of dreams!!

Good grief, chewing a cake box? That’s true commitment to the cause!

“Absinthe shots?” lol – hopefully with a chaser of champagne, like Poe.

Take heart. According to me, trying to teach Louis a lesson is wasting time. The latter is probably not responsible for his new eating behaviour. Don’t you think he might hear voices which control him remotely?

Jasper & Bib will lick the remains of coffee foam from around the top of my mug. Jim and Jasper will eat cake and toast crumbs. Jim will steal and chew pizza crusts. Millie will beg for everything and then sometimes reject them by vomiting profusely. She also opened the outside pedal bin (we keep it on the balcony) and stole chicken bones from therein, which she dragged through the cat flap & chewed thoroughly in the dining room. Think yourself lucky!! 🙂

Hahaha, my new kid loves matcha lattes! I’m going to ask her to bring one home and see if Rosie likes it 🙂 (I wouldn’t be surprised if she did, though, because the other day she seemed very interested in our pumpkin soup!) Le Roi has good taste, you can at least pat yourself on the shoulder for that 😆

Was it a chocolate cupcake ? Because chocolate is, of course, bad for cats (and dogs).

One long ago cat would sip my coffee – I’m pretty much into cafe-au-lait so it never seemed to adversely effect him.

No, not chocolate. Just a plain one with orange icing.

My old, beloved house panther once sampled a cup of coffee, probably because he saw the pleasure I took in it. He didn’t drink much at all, but his tail started vibrating in a way I’d never seen before. Caffeinated cat tail.

That is a beautiful picture of him. He looks very sweet. He is definitely working on taking over the house. 🙂

The matcha latte surprised me. Catorze is getting adventurous–glad he’s okay!

Our cat tore through the plastic on a fortune cookie, then demolished the cookie–but just to get the fortune, apparently, which had a few teeth marks by the time we discovered it. It’s not for mere humans to understand the ways of cats, especially black cats.

(The fortune was something about speaking the truth. Funny enough he’s gotten talkative now that our other cats are gone.)

That’s hilarious about the fortune cookie! And I’m glad you told me what the fortune said, because I would’ve asked! 🤣🤣🤣

He’s been kind of down since he lost his friends–going after the cookie was a sign that he’s feeling better 🙂 I wish I could remember the whole fortune, but I had to share–how many cats get their own fortunes? 😀

Yeah 😦 When we first came to us as a stray, he was drawn to our place because he saw our cats inside (eventually he realized he could get food too lol). We’re probably going to get him a friend, but we can’t where we currently are.
