Je crie, donc je suis

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and why?

I’m not sure whether it’s a “skill” as such, but Louis Catorze would be master and commander of storms. He loves them so much that, as soon as he hears thunder or rainfall, he stops whatever he’s doing (which, usually, isn’t a lot) and runs outside.

His favourite thing is sitting underneath the outdoor table and listening to the rain fall around him. And his second favourite thing is jumping onto the table and licking up the pooled rainwater.

Yes, that black lump is him.

A few days ago, I saw him atop the table having a good old drink. This was absolutely nothing unusual. But, after he’d finished, he came indoors and had an equally good old drink from his indoor glass.

There was plenty of water in each place for him to have guzzled with gay abandon, without needing further water from the second place.

So why did he do it? Does he require … a rainwater main course followed by a tap water pudding?

Main course: yum.
“Would you like to see the dessert menu, Seigneur?”

Maybe he is a connoisseur of fine water!

I would give him a water tasting session, with a different one for each course, were I not worried about him happening upon one and then refusing all others (and, later, me forgetting which one that was and having to test them all on him again).

I bet he’d go for Evian.

Yes, and then I’d be stuck giving it to him for the rest of his life.

💦🐈‍⬛ I fail to see the issue with that.

Le roi appears so tiny in the second photo, unless that is a really big glass of water.

The Grey Menace, Clancy J Bumps insisted on a glass (actually a glass beer mug) and did not like a bowl…hmmmmmm.

I think he’s comparing which one is better. Must’ve thought he’s been cheated of the good stuff all this time.

And it would be typical of him to happen upon a better one and then refuse all others, just to spite us.

I love that every cat has his or her quirks. Louis’ is very odd indeed, but very cute 🙂 and I love the two pictures! Rosie never sets a paw on the balcony if it’s not warm and sunny!

This reminds me of my very first cat, a female named Cha Cha. She hated rainy days, but when it all stopped, she would lick up water from the rain puddles. Then one day after everything had dried up, we saw she was not drinking very much water from her bowl. The next thing we knew was as soon as the water tap in the kitchen sink was turned on, she jumped up into the sink and lapped at the water. We figured she thought the water coming down was rainwater, and that is what she preferred. After that for a while when she finished eating, one of us would turn on the tap.

Obviously Louis is showing his sophistication, drinking both “wild” water and the tame domestic tap variety. “Quel magnifique !”

Maybe he’s making sure that the water you are giving him is fresh. 🐯
