What do you wish you could do more every day?

It’s not a wish anymore because I actually do it, although not quite every day. Stop wishing, if that’s what you’re doing, and actually do it. Life’s too short.

Cat Daddy and I have started treating ourselves to fresh flowers once a month. It feels like a naughty indulgence, but it really lifts our spirits to have flowers in the house, and we’re supporting a lovely, ethical company, so it’s worth it. If you’ve never bought yourself flowers before – proper ones, not petrol station ones wrapped in cruddy plastic – then please do it, just once, and see how good it makes you feel.

We haven’t been able to buy flowers regularly on account of Louis Catorze’s allergies, plus the list of non-cat-compliant plants is so long that we didn’t even think there were many options available to us. However, the amazing Arena Flowers offer a pet-friendly collection, although we’re alarmed that they would need to issue the warning in the second paragraph:

Who are these freaks who actually FEED flowers to their pets? Come on, we want names.

Cat Daddy and I love our flowers. Catorze, however, couldn’t give a stuff and refused point-blank to pose properly next to them. No surprise there.

Nooo, not like that.
Not brilliant but it’ll have to do.

If you live in the UK, we highly recommend Arena Flowers

What a nice idea. Unfortunately, my husband is allergic to flowers. Last century, when I was still hoping it would get better, I used to test his allergies by buying flowers from time to time but as soon as he entered our place, he started sneezing. After some experiences, I gave up 🌺 .

Oh no! Does that happen even outside of hay fever season?

Thank you for asking about it. But don’t worry about my husband. His sneezing fits rarely happen outside.

How strange! I wonder if it’s sap from the cut flowers (do flowers even have sap?) rather than petals or pollen?

Morgan likes to remove any “poky” stems. Usually they are spikes put in for texture or height but she will also remove ferns or other filler. She won’t eat them. She puts them next to the vase (tastefully of course). She was a floral designer in her last life.

So she’s tidying up? How good of her!

Rosie will eat anything green! I had some nice flowers the other day, with those white tiny decorative flowers around, and she ate the leaves of the flowers and all the tiny decorative white flowers, too, while I was at work. And then she puked it all on the rugs (not on the hardwood floor, of course, that would have been too nice) (cat puke with tiny white flowers is surprisingly funny)! So when I get flowers, I am VERY careful to ensure that they are not toxic for cats.

Of course it would be on the rugs! Naughty Rosie! I bet she was far away from the rugs when the hork-hork klaxon started, but made a special effort to run towards the rugs.

What a great idea ! There ARE so many plants that can be harmful to pets – even brushing against a lily and getting pollen on the fur that can be licked off can be fatal. Educating pet owners is a great thing !

We don’t have lilies in the house for this very reason. Catorze has never tried to interfere with flowers but we know that the minute we brought lilies home, he would!

They are beautiful. You’re lucky Louis ignores them. We always have at least one muncher going after the greens.

Onyx (the black cat) is the worst. Snoops likes to check everything out, but usually leaves it alone after that. Onyx even ate a cactus

Can you believe it? We can’t keep ANY type of plant
