When British people say, “The weather is getting warmer”, what they probably mean is that it’s 0.01°C less cold than it was yesterday. This time, however, Louis Catorze can feel it. And the little sod has been outside for hours.

Catorze absolutely LOVES being outside, and his favourite spot is his plinth underneath the outdoor table. It gives him a better vantage point than just being on the ground, plus he’s cushioned and protected from the rain. And, in the event of other animals rocking up and things going awry, he’s close enough to the house to be able to dart back quickly.

(Catorze would be more inclined to stay and fight than retreat, much to Cat Daddy’s joy and my disappointment. Still, the retreat option is there, should he choose it. Which he won’t.)

I can’t take a picture of him on his plinth because, when he hears me approaching, he runs to greet me, chirping and trilling. But here’s a picture of him taken last summer, making the most of his happy place:

Loving life (whilst meowing at me to get lost).

Today the temperature was twice what it was the day before…it went from 8 degrees (F) to 16 degrees his morning. Whoo-hoo. (And my two indoor/outdoor boys still want out…they just don’t stay out too long.)

Haha, Catorze spends ages outside. In the summer we barely see him!

I want a plinth. I have multiple benches but a plinth like my royal cousin’s looks even more appealing. Purrs, DV

Technically it’s TWO plinths but Catorze pretends it’s just one!

During the winter, one of Timon’s his favourite spots is inside, in front of the open French Window. Unfortunately for him, neither my husband nor I really agree with offering it to him. 😺

Louis is not the only one who has odd habits. Don’t forget Timon spent his first weeks with rabbits 🐰🐰🐰 .

Do you know rabbit habits? For instance, the dwarf rabbits Timon lived with hardly ever made noises. Timon often jumps with surprise when hearing a noise. The pen where they lived together, was closed with a wire fence; the air could enter the place… 😺

Aww! I’m trying to imagine how that came about. Did he just move in, thinking it looked like a fun place to be?

Timon was extradited from the rabbit pen when he was a kitten. Since then, he has lived with us which means since nearly five years. Actually, Timon is a cat and trying to understand something linked to a cat is useless. 😺

Gribouille would like the kitchen window to stay open all day long, so he can stay inside with his head outside. During winter, he likes to sit on the heater under the window, and doesn’t understand why I keep the window closed…

Inside with his head outside is actually quite sensible! Keeping the body warm yet smelling the joys of the outdoors!

I get it. A small temperature change can seem like a big difference. That’s why I prefer Fahrenheit over Celsius. Don’t get me wrong; I like the metric system and wish America would adopt it, except for temperature. The problem I have with Celsius is that the difference from one degree to the next is too great. A difference of one degree Celsius is almost two degrees Fahrenheit. In my house, a temperature of 74 degrees Fahrenheit is perfect, while 75 is too warm. If my thermostat was set to 23C, it would get awfully warm before the temperature reached 24 and the air conditioner kicked on. I know, first-world problems.

That looks like a spot I would not mind taking a nap in if I could. Our weather here in Florida has become cooler again and we are getting dark and gray days but with no rain. When the sun does shine into the windows my cats look for the spot that has the most sunshine and find a way to sleep there so their heads are right in the sun.

That does look like an excellent place to survey his domain. And very comfortable if he finds himself in need of a nap. 🙂
