The Met Office promised us Londoners an Arctic blast this week, and I’m disappointed – although not at all surprised – that we didn’t get one. Oh well. It can’t all be fun and games, like it is in the US.

I love snow, and the way in which it transforms everything it touches into a magical new world. I also love what a great backdrop it is for Chat Noir photography. Oui, Mesdames et Messieurs: the little sods are notoriously difficult to photograph in the wrong light, yet snow makes them look great. Yes, even the weird, misshapen little freaks of nature such as Louis Catorze.

Regretfully, because we humans have royally stuffed up the planet and our winters will only grow warmer, not colder, I don’t think I will ever take another snow photo of Catorze in his lifetime. Here is the only one that I have (I think), from 2019:

Zoom in for a tiny glimpse of the famous fangs.

I would love to see your snow portraits of your furry overlords/ladies. Please post them below in the comments, if you can.

Oh my goodness. Don’t his feet get cold? Our cats are all indoor cats. We live on a main road, but we’re in the country so we have coyotes too.

It doesn’t snow often enough for this to be a big deal! 🤣🤣🤣

My furry overlords aren’t allowed outside so no snow pics here either.

Yes, most US cats seem to be indoor ones.

Yes, in our area it’s too dangerous to have free run cats. Foxes, coyotes, cars, people with guns who don’t like cats. It also gets very cold.

Here, the soil is covered with snow. Our Met Office promised it, and we got it 😺 .

Do you like it, or is it causing chaos? And does Timon like it?

I don’t know what to tell you. The kid who carries on living in me likes it, but the old lady I’m is afraid of falling because her balance is no longer what it should be. In addition, nowadays, snow has a tendency to be a bit too wet when it falls.

Oh yes, when it turns to ice it’s very scary!

I think snow has moved north. It always seemed to be the south of the country that was blanketed and we didn’t get a flake. Now the opposite appears true.

How weird, because in my experience it’s always been the other way around! Whenever they report snow we always mutter, “I bet it’s the bloody North and Scotland again!”

Oh no! I’m so sorry. I don’t really like summer. I like the light evenings but everything else about it: sweat, tan lines, hay fever, bugs – just NOPE.

Sitting outside in the garden, having milkshakes, ice cream for you and your cat… I can go for that! 😎

Outdoors in the summer: ugh. I’ll take the ice cream and the cat though!

Freddie and Tish are indoor cats and it does not snow in Florida. However, with the cold temps that have hit Florida they are learning about the cold, Freddie stays in the front room that has been heated throughout the night by a space heater and Tish sits by a window warming in the sunshine. I have had cats in my life that have gone out in snow when I lived elsewhere,

Yes, I’ve heard all about the wintry blast that’s hitting the south! And also the wildfires. It’s all happening in the US. Hope you are ok!

None of my cats ever liked snow (Gribouille is too young to have seen the white miracle). The only picture I would have, somewhere, is the trace of two paws in snow, immediately turning back to go home.
