Je crie, donc je suis

Last week I sent this meme to a friend, because she also has a cat called Beans:

Winner winner, chicken dinner. (Picture from Facebook.)

Truly, there was nothing more in it than a casual, “Look, this cat has the same name as yours!” It wasn’t supposed to be a command, nor a premonition of the future.

However, the Cat Universe had other ideas:

THAT SAME DAY, Beans’ little sister, Minou, came clattering through the cat flap with a fried chicken leg in her mouth. She then proceeded to hide under the bed, where none of the humans could reach her, to feast, undisturbed, on her prize.

How did this happen, a mere few hours after I’d sent the original meme? Who is the hapless diner (or, rather, non-diner) in the south-west of England, whose chicken was stolen? Is there some innocent cat or dog out there, being blamed for the theft, or has the non-diner somehow managed to gaslight themselves into thinking that their meal preparation was all a dream?

“Laissez-vous faire, Minou …”
“Et prenez bien vos aises …”

It wasn’t even a full moon or Mercury Retrograde at the time, so the little sods don’t even have those extenuating circumstances.

People of the south-west, if you see any of these reprobates* on the rampage in your neighbourhood, lock up your lunch.

*Having learned that crime DOES pay after all, Minou will, no doubt, have passed this information to her brother and sisters.

Minou milords it over her siblings: Byron (grey), Floydette aka Dettie (black) and Séverine aka Beans (fluffy cow-cat).

Who can resist a good drumstick of southern fried chicken, be it in southwest England or below the Mason-Dixon line in the U.S.?

Cats are just the WORST, aren’t they?

Clearly, Minou thought the original picture was her actual brofur and had to do a “Hold my beer” moment just to show him up.

Well, at least Minou only took the leg. She was thoughtful enough to leave some behind for the humans.

It’s more likely that she just physically couldn’t carry the rest!

Honestly, I hate to spoil your day, but Byron looks exactly like Clancy ( The Grey Menace). I am not joking, I looked three times to be sure. The problem is much worse – it’s at DEFCON-4.

Oh good grief! I’ve seen so many pictures of Byron and never thought of that until now! 😱😱😱

Has he shown any proclivity for O-negative blood yet?

Not one bit! Byron is a placid, docile old boy. 😊

Byron is the spitting image of Clancy, a long-lost descendant perhaps. If so, he comes from an impressive feline lineage!

They honestly couldn’t be more different in behaviour and temperament!

My aunt had a cat, Norris, who used to steal shopping through a car’s sunroof. I wonder what this person thought as it wasn’t just the once.

Norris picked the SAME CAR multiple times?

Oh yes. I can’t decide who is more daft: him for not mixing it up or them for repeatedly leaving their sunroof open. He was black and white too. 🤔

He is not the daft one! If you know that a particular spot yields treasure time and time again, why look for another spot? I bet the poor neighbour thought that he was just forgetting items at the shop. He probably went back there ranting and raving at them for charging him for items that he clearly never took home.

I see Beans the chicken thief is an all-black cat. Minou the copy-cat chicken leg thief is seriously good at looking innocent (and cute).

Yes, Minou looks appalled that we’ve even accused her!

We had a black-and-white cat named Minou,
a boy, also! We got the name from a friend who grew up in Louisiana speaking Acadian French. LOL, we also had a cat who came home one day with a steak she’d stolen off someone’s barbecue grill.

Minou and her family look great. As to the anecdote we are told about, all the cats are accustomed to loving the roasted chicken smell and taste. Fortunately, not all of them manage to steal a fried chicken leg or worse, a whole roasted chicken from unknown human beings 😺.

Would you believe, Louis Catorze can take or leave chicken? He goes nuts for fish, though.

So far, Timon has been content with harassing me until I give him a piece of roasted chicken. That odd silly cat hasn’t learned to steal yet. Let’s hope it says that way 😺.

Why make the effort of stealing when the human slaves lay everything on a platter?

Aww yes, the rotisserie chicken brings memories of Gracie. She would climb my legs to get at it.

Wow. A whole chicken. That’s impressive. Stealing someone’s chicken leg this time of year is also impressive. I’m keeping this away from the cats
