Je crie, donc je suis

I am in Hastings visiting Otis, Roux and their humans, leaving Cat Daddy and Louis Catorze to have a lads’ weekend in London. Cat Daddy was supposed to come with me but, after everything that’s happened with Catorze, although Blue the Smoke Bengal’s mamma had very kindly agreed to feed him, we decided that it would be best not to leave him this weekend.

(By the way, when I was explaining Catorze’s ear medication and showing her the finger-condoms, Blue’s mamma thought the medication had to go UP HIS ARSE. We get on very well, but some things would test the boundaries of even the best friendships.)

Naturellement, Cat Daddy has been telling people that his weekend has been ruined because he’s “stuck at home cat-sitting”. Erm, is it cat-sitting when it’s your own cat?

Anyway, Roux has declared the Spooky Season officially open by breaking into a cupboard, pulling out a packet of treats, CLOSING THE CUPBOARD AFTERWARDS (!) and then doing the inevitable. Here is the primary piece of evidence, along with the main (only?) suspect’s arse end:

Roux!
Bastard cat.

Meanwhile in TW8, my biggest worry was that Cat Daddy would stuff up Catorze’s medication and that I’d return home to find a freakishly malformed, mutated FrankenRoi. However, it’s worse than that: Catorze has been on Rodent Duty. INSIDE THE HOUSE.

This isn’t good. Bastard cat.

Someone or something drew his attention enough to have him leap off his papa’s lap and dart straight for the gap between the fridge and the pull-out cupboard. And that is where he stayed, staring at an invisible intruder. We are mystified as to how an elderly cat with hyperthyroidism – and recovering from pancreatitis – could possibly bring in a rodent and release it in the house, but at least it’s Cat Daddy’s problem for now, and not mine.

Even Catorze’s cat-cousin Zelva, who is usually the best-behaved of our gang, isn’t immune to bullshittery, it seems. My mum caught her doing this:

“Hail to the guardians of the watchtowers of the west, the powers of Dreamies and catnip. Hear us!”

We don’t know what Zelva (left) is up to with her friends, but let’s hope that they don’t find a fourth cat to represent the spirits of the south.

What is happening? Are your furry overlords up to mischief too?

I hope Cat Daddy is as good with Louis as you are. At least as far as getting medications into him. The two of them will certainly have a guy’s weekend.

He isn’t as good as me. Sorry to be blunt but he’s just not. It’s going to either be catastrophic or funny as hell.

Catorze is probably completing the circle in incorporeal form, which is why he appears so still at home. It IS October after all.

I can’t help you. Timon doesn’t look particularly aware that the Spooky Season was opened. Perhaps that piece of news hasn’t managed to cross the Chanel yet.

Now I can remember: Flourig had pancreatitis too, when she was 17 or so. The vet told us she would only live for a couple of years, after that. And she finally turned 21. And was still able to catch mice at 20… (She naturally was a black cat.)

Gribouille doesn’t care about October or spooky season at all.

Closing the cupboard afterwards 🤣🤣 Zelva to your mum: “nothing to see here; move on, human! Catorze was attending the gathering via invisible cat Zoom 🙀

Catorze’s body language certainly suggests that he could have been logging on remotely. He’s even facing in the right direction!

I’ve been away for a week with the D.O.G. and the first thing I noticed was a huge pile of feathers in the hall. I duly asked my lodger about them and he said he hadn’t noticed. (How?!) I then found some, um, innards, in the feathers. Where is the rest of the feather owner? I haven’t checked every single shoe yet (I have a lot of shoes) but I have a feeling it’s somewhere. 🤢

Don’t worry, you will definitely find it. It’s just a question of when.

I abandoned Rosie for 36 hours, no medication, no wet food, no visitor, just some scheduled dry food. I felt really guilty, but she doesn’t like the person who was available to take care of her, so I thought I’d try with no one. Poor baby! When I finally got back home, she had not eaten her latest dry food portion, which indicates serious trauma 😦 Fortunately, she devoured the wet food I gave her, and after sleeping on top of me all night, she seems like herself again!

Oh my! Why doesn’t she like that person?

That person looks for Rosie in her hiding places and then doesn’t “re-create” the hiding places (for example she removes the sheet on top of the armchair where Rosie loves to hide to look for her and doesn’t doesn’t put the sheet back on the armchair so Rosie can hide again). I don’t know what else happens, but every time this person comes, Rosie doesn’t eat well and seems anxious and a bit agressive even, when I come back.

Oh dear, that’s not good! It doesn’t sound as if that person can read the room very well.
