Je crie, donc je suis

1st October is my favourite day of the year, because all the Hallowe’en anticipation and build-up is still ahead of me. However, this year, with everything that’s been going on with Louis Catorze, it’s been hard to fully feel the start of the Spooky Season. My mind has been mainly on getting him through it.

Luckily the prosciutto di Parma has been serving us well as the Trojan horse, and he’s been talking his Cerenia like a champ. I realise that salty, fatty ham isn’t the best food for Catorze, but it’s the only way I can get him to eat the damned pill. I feed him one piece of ham fat on its own, then another containing the pill, then a third on its own. The first is to con him into thinking that the second will be as good, and the third is to gaslight him into thinking that maybe the offish taste of the second was a figment of his imagination.

He has no idea that Troy has fallen. Again.

Meanwhile, in SE20, my sister is pilling her cats like this:

That’s just showing off.

No way would Catorze stand for this kind of shit; he’d be casting me the “Go home, you’re embarrassing yourself” look without even blinking.

If you have experience of pancreatitis in cats, please reply and let me know. I feel quite out of my depth managing this, so it would be great to hear from people who have been through it.

The D.O.G. is meant to be easy to pill as dogs eat utterly disgusting things through choice (and the pills are supposed to be tasty). However, the last flea tablet I chopped into tiny pieces and mixed into some cat food. She took every single tiny piece out and dropped it on the floor by her food bowl. Git.

How did she manage that? That’s quite impressive!

I have, and our kitty recovered but it’s been a long time. I can’t remember exactly what we did though I know we carefully managed her food. She was older, but did live on more years.

Aw, that’s great to hear! What food did she eat?

I’m so sorry that t I can’t recall that either. I think it was something we chose from the old “Janet and Binky charts” which listed levels of carbs, protein, fats in various cat foods.. We likely chose lowest carbs since she was diabetic.

Catorze is feeling well enough to get you to give him three pieces of ham but only one pill.

Congratulations on having found a way that works, it’s no small feat! The only thing that ever worked for me was liquid medication mixed in wet food, and the meat-pills. Cats are not helping us help them!!

They really aren’t, are they? It’s as if the bastards are trying to self-sabotage on purpose.

No experience with pancreatitis. The problem with cats is that they can’t tell you how they feel or what’s wrong. You flail around looking for a solution and never know if you have the right one. I always freak out when my cats’ behavior changes even if it’s behavior I wish would change.

That’s exactly it: flailing around. You’re never quite sure. Bastard cats.

Pancreatitis doesn’t sound good. And giving a cat a pill every day is certainly not a pleasure…

Ugh, it’s horrendous. They make it as painful as possible.

I know! This is quite freakish behaviour, right?
