Je crie, donc je suis

Louis Catorze has started requesting to go out at The Front every evening. He often does this when it’s warm outside and, although I wasn’t keen at first in case he tried to cross the road and consort with marauding youths in the park, so far he seems able to have been sensible and stay on our side.

A couple of nights ago, I let Catorze out and forgot about him. We were so engrossed in a new drama on ITVX that we didn’t remember him for a good few hours, when we paused the television to make a cup of tea and then heard the infernal screaming coming from the front door.

Catorze pitter-pattered in, wild-eyed, psychotic and determined to make us pay for not opening the door more promptly. And the first thing he did was step onto Cat Daddy’s just-operated knee, then kick off from it with his back feet to jump to the floor.

He may only weigh 2.7kg, but this still hurt.

This is as close as he’s now allowed, next to Cat Daddy but absolutely not on him, and only when he’s in a calm mood (Catorze, I mean). And, yes, he is using the Waitrose magazine as a mattress.

Bastard cat.

Just stay put, little sod.

Yeah, he’s not overjoyed at not being allowed in his happy place!

Do you mean Louis knows where he is allowed to go? If so, it’s incredible 😺.

Oh yes, he knows. He often ignores, but he knows.

I’m sorry but I’m laughing imagining his tantrums 😆

He screams and screams when he’s displeased. Mind you, he does that when he’s pleased, too.

It seems he makes you guess his changing moods 😁

He does. And we get it wrong every time.

Hope cat daddy is recuperating even with Louis as his caretaker! Cat purrs are healing. Not sure about cat screams.

Cat screams negate purrs. Don’t ask us how we know this.

Oh, cats can be mean, can’t they? I forgot my beloved dog Sunny out back yesterday for nearly an hour. He didn’t bark or give us any trouble when we let him back in—he was simply a flurry of gratitude and celebratory wags.

Nope! We told him he should have, but Sunny never wants to be a bother. He is such a good, sweet boy.

It must be nice having a pet who’s a good boy and who doesn’t want to be a bother.

Several years ago, I realized I had not seen our black cat, Snarky, for awhile. And it had been pouring rain for some time. Sure enough, she was outside, sitting on the front stoop and not happy about being soaked. It was summer, and no real haem was done except to her dignity…which was enough.

Her name is Snarky? That’s brilliant! 🤩

It hurts to think about Louis launching from Cat Daddy’s new knee
