Je crie, donc je suis

Remember when Louis Catorze liked wet food, then he didn’t, then he did, then he didn’t? Well, now he does again.

The little sod had been looking a bit haggard and brittle, so we decided to see if he would eat the wet food left over from his last sojourn. We were pretty sure he would reject it, just to spite us, but he tucked in with tremendous enthusiasm. And now he’s constantly tormenting us for more.  You cannot IMAGINE the feeling of being bullied by a tiny beast who weighs less than my lightest dumbbell.

Naturellement, there are some rule changes from the last Wet Food Odyssey:

Firstly, if the shreds of chicken are more than 1.47cm in length, they are to be cut in half. If we don’t cut them in half, we risk them either being left behind to go dry and attract flies, or being flung around the feeding station.

(Yes, that’s right, he can rip the heads off rodents the size of chihuahuas, but he can’t possibly eat a strip of chicken longer than 1.47cm.)

Secondly, the previous wet food routine of set mealtimes is now obsolete, and Catorze expects a fresh serving of food every time he asks. This might be three or four times a day. Equally, it could be 783 times a day. It’s such fun finding out what kind of a day it will be.

Anyway, he’s eating well, and he even appears to be chubbing up a little. This calls for another rendition of the Chubbing Up Dance, non?

Here is Catorze, informing us of his tragically empty bowl. Mind you, he sits like this even when it’s full:

“Feed moi.”

The eating, yes. The bullying and screaming, not so much.

Neo thinks that 783 daily servings of his favorite wet food sound like a good deal.

You told him that this isn’t normal, right? RIGHT? 😳

Nothing is ever perfect on earth. You must be cautious. Wet food attracts flies more than dry food because of its strong scent. And flies are likely to lay some eggs in it. And if you wait without reacting, maggots will appear… I’m teasing you. I know you know it as well as I do, and I’m glad to hear Louis is putting on weight a little.

Yes, the flies are the one big downside. Not much fun. 😬

Ohhhhh he’s so cuuuuuuute ❤ I just finished reading a book written by a cat psychiatrist who says that cats should be fed 6 (SIX!) times a day! Maybe Louis read that book, too…

I think Millie has had a few Zoom calls with Sa Maj, as she has learned to scream. She has chronic diarrhea (which means Mr FD has to clean up several splats in the morning, while I pretend to sleep) and is now constantly hungry (as she is constantly – well, it feels that way – poo-ing) So every time one of us goes near the kitchen she is there, screaming for food. ANY food. Until you give her something she doesn’t fancy. In which case she will look at you as though you have insulted her and all her ancestors and then stalk off, screaming under her breath.

Hearing (or reading) Americans use “sod” just warms my heart!
