Je crie, donc je suis

Share a proverb you think is completely wrong and make your case.

The above proverb means, “The cat who frightens mice away is as good as the cat who eats them”. It’s not that I think this proverb is WRONG, as such. It’s more that I’m mystified as to how my family has ended up with cats who neither frighten nor eat mice but who, instead, bring them into the house and leave them to run riot.

Perhaps we ought to invent a new proverb, as follows: “Useless is the cat who brings mice into a place where there were previously none.”

Otis and Roux: useless.
Louis Catorze: equally useless.

Morgan was my mouser. One week she caught 8 mice in our basement. Obviously we were infested!

8 mice could be quite a rugby team. 🏉

I have to agree with you. My cat does the same, he’s brought rats quite a few times 🤣.

Louis does not frighten cats at all? 😱

He’s caught quite a few rats and mice (despite the rescue selling him to us as a non-hunter), but he almost always brings them into the house. 🤢

Yes, the non-hunter business was all lies. 🤣🤣🤣

Cats remain remarkable hunters, but since we feed them, they are no longer interested in eating the captured rodent or bird. They prefer playing with it 😺.

It’s quite unpleasant watching them play. 🤢

Hahaha, the proverbs (old and new) and the pictures make me laugh. So at least cats are good at SOMETHING: making us laugh 🙂

We don’t laugh quite so much when we find the headless mouse and wonder what happened to the head. 🤢

My parents’cat did that. She brought in a mouse to play with and lost it

Unfortunately it got into the heating ducts. It was summer, so the heat wasn’t on. It must have escaped by winter
