Je crie, donc je suis

What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?

I posted at the weekend about Louis Catorze’s cat-cousin Mothra, who had injured her tail in a scrap with a mystery cat. (The vet confirmed this from teeth marks in the wound – definitely another cat, not a fox or a dog or anything like that.)

The jury is still out as to whether Mothra’s brother Rodan did it in an over-zealous play-fight, but we can’t prove this.

Rodan says he’s innocent. Do we believe him?

Although things initially seemed positive when Mothra came home from the vet, because there was some movement in her tail, it has since transpired that the vertebral damage is too great. This means, unfortunately, that Mothra will have to lose her tail.

So her biggest challenge in the next six months will be adapting to life as a tailless cat.

Mothra is due to have the procedure later this morning, and I will update you in the next few days regarding how she’s doing. Thank you so much to those of you who have already sent her good wishes.

Le Cône also doubles as a convenient pillow.

Rodan’s expression is inscrutable. It’s a blogworthy mystery! Any more suspects? Hope all goes well with Mothra.

Thank you! They have the odd stray cat in their area so quite a few suspects, including The Devil Cat (more about him another time), so it could be him!

Is it hard to adapt? My cats mostly use their tails to push things off of tables.

I’ve never known a cat to do this! Ours have always used their paws.

They use that too. My cats are multi-talented.

Rodan looks a lot like Ramses.
Had a kitten who had to lose her back leg. She did just fine without it. Although Mothra is an adult I’m very sure she will bounce back once she’s healed and there’s no more pain. Poor thing. Blessings to all from all here at Chez Rock Vixen.

Oh, poor Mothra! I hate seeing/knowing that an animal has been injured. I look forward to your reports. Is that black cat Rodan? He looks beautiful and healthy.

Yes, Rodan is the Chat Noir. He’s fully recovered from all his self-inflicted facial scratches.

Merci! I think she will still have a little stump of a tail, like a Manx cat. It could look quite cute?

Wishing sweet and poor Mothra all the best. My best friend’s cat lost his tail after a cat fight and recovered very well and adapted very good to his tail-less cat life.
