Louis Catorze helpfully points out the next window to be opened on the advent calendar.

Writing about our departed pets on the winter solstice wasn’t something I’d planned to do regularly. However, last year a friend contacted me to ask if I’d be doing it again, having done it the previous year, because she would like me to feature her cat. So now, it seems, it has become a permanent feature, and I think it’s a rather nice one.

Thank you to my friend Carole for the idea.

Last year only two pets were mentioned, and three the previous year. This year it’s quite a lot more:

Mischievous Chris.
Handsome Jimi.
Lovable Nelly. (Not a cat but still worthy of a place here.)
Delightful Jasper.
Adorable Tipsy.
Stunning Delilah.
Gorgeous Finnegan.
Regal Amber.
Cheeky Pumpkin.
Elegant Crackers.

Seeing this gallery has made me feel more grateful than ever to still have Louis Catorze; I don’t know how he is still managing to gad about the planet, making the amount of noise that he does (!), at fifteen and a half, yet here we are. And, although he’s a massive pain in the arse, we can’t imagine life without him.

We hope you have a lovely solstice, either cuddling your furry overlords/ladies or fondly remembering those who are no longer with us.

It makes us sad to think of the pain of losing these friends, We trust there are a lot of good memories to carry through, and. as you said. embrace our own crew all the tighter.

Indeed! However shitty their behaviour, we all want more time with them.

It’s sad that so many wonderful cats have departed from life this year. And one good dog. Thank you for featuring Nelly here. She left a big hole in our lives.

I bet she did! She has such a kind face, if it’s possible for a dog to have that.

Thank you for playing tribute to all those pets. Mischievous Chrit looks young. Dit it die as a kitty or is it an old picture? I also love the first photo. Louis is incredibly agile, isn’t he?

Have a nice winter solstice too, either cuddling Louis or looking at Cat Daddy doing it 😺.

I can’t remember Chris’s age when he passed but I’m sure he was in his teens. He was a real rascal. His Cat Daddy follows Le Blog so hopefully he will see this and comment.

Thank you so much for placing Jimi on your tribute list of the departed. Wishing you a lovely solstice and a wonderful ending of the year. Niki sends his regards to Louis Catorze!

Catorze sends them right back, and reminds Niki of the agreement as regards solstice mischief! 😉

Thank you for featuring Jasper. He left a big hole in our hearts. However Bib has become a much stronger, braver cat in his absence (& even pees in her tray correctly – some of the time!)

You often hear that the departure of one cat changes the dynamic among the remaining ones.

Aww, such beautiful pets, such loss! I am sure my Sosso, Calinette, and Miss Penny welcomed them and are playing together in pet heaven 🙂

I wish I’d thought of this as an idea when Miss Penny departed. 🥺

That is a sweet thing to do. They may die but they leave of piece of them with us.

That is a nice feature, a way to honour the memories of those cats and dogs. Like that, we can have a thought for each of them. I had thought for a while to do something on the Miaougraphie de Clément, a space for other departed pets. Haven’t done it yet…

I would love to feature Clément next year, if you’re happy with that?
