How do you practise self-care?

When it’s a raging Dantean hellfire outside, and you are a black animal covered in fur, you may find it difficult to keep cool.

What a stroke of luck, then, that ice cube massages are a thing. If you don’t know what they are, they’re exactly as they sound. And Louis Catorze LOVES them.

Here is one, in action:

Doing this makes ME feel sweaty. But then it’s not about me.

And this is how, erm, radiant and beautiful you look afterwards:

What do you mean, we only do it to make him look silly? Ahem.
Letting it all dry off in the blazing sun.

I have never heard of such a thing! We’ll have to try it out on our guys this summer. Cosmo is the best candidate since he loathes the heat, but I think we might need a small iceberg for it to be effective on the big guy.

Aww, Cosmo! Poor chap! I know that if we bought Catorze a cooling mat he would never use it, so this is the next best thing.

Timon is easily offended. I’m not sure he would like being dishevelled with ice cubes as your dear Louis seems to enjoy. 🙂

Oh dear! Best not to try it on him, then!

Hahaha… that’s so funny to see how Louis enjoyed his ice cube massages! The way he looks afterwards is kinda… well… awkward? 😹

Temperatures dropped 10 degrees today to 23°C. You could see that Niki was suffering a little bit from the heat yesterday. Maybe I should give that ice cube massage a try next time…

The last two pictures are so funny! I don’t think Rosie would let me do that, but Miss Penny allowed me to take a wet cloth and get her all wet when it was 35 + humidex our first summer in Ontario. She looked a lot like Louis then 😆 all skin and bones and spikes!

    Le Roi Lolly…!

I brushed DMax with a wet brush and he promptly rolled in a dust bath…! This is the cat that sleeps on my bed.

🤣🤣🤣 Of course he did! I’m imagining him like those Saharan elephants who roll in dust!

Since my cats live in air conditioning, I’m not sure it would have the same appeal. Louis looks very pleased with it all.

I will remember this. I’ve also been told that a cat can be cooled down by dipping their paws in very cold water.

An ice cube is (maybe) a bit less intimidating than water, as it’s solid? Give it a try with your gang!
