Thank you to everyone who has sent me good wishes. I came home from hospital yesterday morning, which was quite a bit sooner than the three to five days usually anticipated.

For all those people who said, “Louis Catorze will be so pleased to have you home”, look at this video:

Warning: very prominent rear end on show, which I only know how to edit in still photos.

I told you, didn’t I? In fact, I’ve been saying it for ages: he couldn’t give a shite whether I live or die.

Even before I came home there was drama galore, because Chris the heating engineer came over that morning. Some of you may remember this bizarre incident, which took place during one of his previous visits and which still remains the talk of some of my Spooky Club students.

Cat Daddy went to the bakery for a few minutes, leaving Chris and Catorze alone together. When he returned, he heard the infernal racket as soon as he walked in. Catorze was all over Chris, screaming his guts out and not letting him get on with his work.

Rather worryingly, Chris didn’t say, “Your cat is so sweet”, “Your cat is annoying the shit out of me” or any such thing. HE JUST SAID NOTHING.

Anyway, whatever was wrong with the boiler is now fixed, the house is warm, and Catorze is on my lap looking disdainfully at me. I wondered whether it was because I smelt all hospitally, but then he was disdainful anyway, even before I went in.

Bastard disdainful cat.

It’s his way of saying he’s glad you are home and by the way do you have any salmon?

Hopefully there will be quite a lull before you need your boiler checked again, so Chris has time to recover/forget and you don’t need to find a new repair person.

It’s great that yo are home. And I think there is a term therapists use for Louis’ behavior, but it escapes me. He really is a brat!

Ramses does the same thing… I think it must be a black cat thing.

Weirdly, Luther (Catorze’s big brother) didn’t have such a prominent arse. I think sometimes we just get lucky with the level of fur coverage. With Catorze I didn’t. 😳

Good to know you’re back sooner, and that things are “normal” at home!

Thank you! Yes, regretfully all this nonsense is very much normal here!

I’m happy to hear you are back home. I can’t understand what Louis is telling you, but I agree with you. It sounds hard to give him the benefit of the doubt. Take heart. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thank you! Who knows what he could be telling me? After 10 years of being his slave I still don’t know.

Landed my first attempt at a reply in the wrong place. Never mind. You know what I’m laughing at.

Glad to see you’re back home. I’m sure it was all a little bit too emotional for Louis. That’s why he was walking away from you. 😸

I’m glad you are home. Floki punishes my wife whenever we leave for a few days, but he soon gets over it.

Floki actually targets your wife? (Even if you BOTH went away?) 😳

Glad to know you’re home and on the mend. Mr. Disdainful might have thought you were gone forever and now he and Cat Daddy can create an all male paradise. Ages ago when I lived in Latvia before returning to the US after my husband passed away our cat Sid was very much into male bonding. When he and my husband played around and cuddled you should have seen the face on our otherwise quite sweet cat if I interrupted their playtime I was definitely persona non gratis.

Yes, I think the All-Male Paradise was definitely the plan, and now I’ve ruined it. Little sod isn’t even on my lap right now. He’s vegetating in his igloo.

As the recipient of much cold tail from my own feline overlords and overladies, I must say that Louis’ reaction to your return is downright arctic.

He clearly guides you back inside and tells you that he missed you and you should not have abandoned him like that! His look says the same thing, “how DARE you abandon me like that?? Thank goodness you’re back to take care of me!!!” Glad you’re home, too 🙂

that look either says ‘well at least you don’t smell of the vet!’
Or ‘whilst you were away me and Cat Daddy had a wild party, ate all the fish and broke the heating! Sorry not sorry’
