You know this already, but I had to post about it again because it never fails to blow my mind. And I’m sure this won’t be the last time. Louis Catorze will do it again and make it even weirder, I’m sure of it.

We’ve had a lot of rain this weekend. In fact, yesterday morning I came down to a lake of water all over the kitchen floor because the windows had been left open all night. Most cats don’t like rain. Catorze, however, begs to differ.

Catorze was on his papa’s lap, ready to watch Aston Villa v Arsenal, when we were struck by a particularly heavy deluge that battered down on the skylight and the Velux windows. Catorze’s ears pricked up at the sound, and Cat Daddy said, “Do you want to go out, Louis?”

What happened next was quite strange.

Catorze replied to his papa with a “Mwah!”, jumped down from his lap and RACED outside as if the devil were chasing him (not the best analogy, since we all know that the devil is already inside him and residing there quite happily, but you know what I mean).

We have always known how much he loves the rain, but we have never seen the little sod so instantly responsive to it. It’s both cute and utterly freakish.

Here he is, sitting in his favourite place and loving every minute of it:

The eye of the storm.

It’s not normal, is it, to RUN out like that?

The way it rains in our country evolves because of climate change. Who knows? Louis is likely to study all the new kinds of rain to report it to some fiendish unknown experts.

Hahaha… great video of Louis. I told you before, Mr. Bowie was also a rain and water cat. I had to close the door of the badroom because he liked to jump in the bad (filled with water)…

      He would JUMP IN? 😮

And, once in, did he think, “OH MY GOODNESS WHAT HAVE I DONE?”? Or did he not mind it?

No, he didn’t mind and enjoyed walking around in the water… It’s a shame I did not take a photograph on such moments…

That’s so funny! Maybe he was a Turkish Van in one of his previous lives.

One day, a cat we hosted for a few days fell into the bathtub when I was washing myself. But unlike Mr. Bowie, she started to panic and I had to help her to leave the bathtub.

Actually, that guest cat wasn’t an utter stranger. She was our daughter’s cat and she was also our own cat’s sister.

I read that as, “our own cat’s SITTER”. I thought, “Wow, your cat had his own feline sitter?”

Those two cats had been born in a horse farm where our daughter took horse riding lessons. The cats were named Oxalis and Timmy.

I would’ve laughed if the guest cat had been some random interloper, just coming in for fun!

There is something peaceful about rain.

I’m sure he finds it relaxing. Not relaxing enough, though – he’s still a massive idiot.

At least he is sheltering and just contemplating. From your introduction I expected to find him running around out in the downpour. The fact that he appears to have enough sense to get out of the rain should be mildly reassuring.

Erm … he has run around in the downpour before. We’ve not seen him do it, but he’s come in so utterly drenched to the bone that it can’t have just been from darting from the table to indoors.

That is weird for a cat but there is something appealing about watching rain from under a cover.

He’s not always fully under cover though! Sometimes his arse end is sticking out and he comes in with a dry body and a dripping wet tail. 🤣🤣🤣

Complaining about not being able to like apparently cured it.

Does Catorze like sitting under a tap or listening to running water? Maybe he really likes the taste of earthworms?!

No, he’s quite disinterested in a running tap. Unless I’m running a relaxing bath and don’t want to be disturbed. 😳

It is strange ! And stranger with that latest reaction to the rain… Then again, my Clément did seem to like looking at the rain fall, as long as none fell on him (which always took him a couple of minutes to realize)…

Somewhat 😆. Then again, some cats don’t seem to mind being wet.
