Que la force soit avec eux

Nala the dog now has a new sister, and my messages to and from Puppy Mamma about their most recent family member went something like this:

Her: “You’re not going to believe what’s happened. Promise you won’t judge?”

Me: “Ok.”

Her: “I’ve got a new puppy!”

Me: “Not meaning to judge, but what the ****?”

Her: “I KNOW! I just blinked and it happened!”

Me: “Send me a picture.”

[She sends a picture.]

Me: “That’s not even a dog.”

[She sends another picture.]

Me: “That’s still not a dog.”

[She sends more pictures .]

Me: “STILL NOT A DOG.”

If you don’t believe me, look for yourselves. This is Gizmo, a.k.a. Gizzy:

Not a dog

No, I have never seen anything like it, either. And, no, I’m still not convinced it’s a dog. In fact, I’m struggling to even articulate what I think it is, although perhaps some sort of Chewbacca-alien hybrid is the closest thing.

Anyway, I now have a second creature to add my list of animals who don’t need costumes at Hallowe’en (the first being Louis Catorze). And the Puppy Parents now have TWO unhinged beasts to deal with. The only thing that could possibly make their household more bonkers would be to add a psycho black cat to the mix and, quite frankly, I wouldn’t put it past them.

If you have any suggestions as to what species Gizzy might be, we would love to hear them. We’re still undecided.

  1. Your blog really lifts my spirits & make laugh! Best guess at what ‘Not a dog’ is would be a Yorkshire Terrier.
Happy New Year (if it’s not too late to say it) to the Sun King & his staff. Xx

    1. Happy New Year to you, too! Not too late to say it. I think anytime in January is fine. Gizzy is apparently a Chocolate Biewer terrier. Nope, I hadn’t heard of them, either! 🤣

  2. Definitely a dear little Yorkie. My exhusband was driving home in the middle of the night in appalling rain and darkness and saw something sat in a huge puddle in the road. He picked it up. I was in the bath when he got in, he knocked the bathroom door and announced he’d found a cute little kitten. I told him to bring it straight in to me, the ‘kitten’ was a bedraggled version of your picture. I laughed and told him it was a very very young little Yorkie and he wouldn’t believe it wasn’t a cat. 2 days later I’d been hoping upon hope that we couldn’t find the owner because I and my huge German Shepherd Archie had fallen in love with her, but the owner had put up a notice in a local shop asking if anyone had found ‘Lady’, so I reluctantly sent my husband back to where he’d found her and she was happy to be reunited with her family. That’s 19 years ago, she’ll be near the end of her life now if she’s lived a healthy life. They generally live anything between 17 to 25 years so if you stay neighbours she’s going to be in your lives for many years lol

    1. Aw, that’s a lovely story! How did Lady get out? Apparently Gizzy is a Chocolate Biewer terrier (?) but a Yorkie would have been funnier as Oscar the dog is also one! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  3. Yes, I agree with Penny, Gizzy is definitely a Yorkie. They are very cute and can be full of character. I wonder what His Majesty thinks about it, perhaps have her as a jester?

I have enjoyed Penny’ story as well.

    1. Hi Monica. She’s a Chocolate Biewer terrier, apparently. I would love to see Sa Maj with her but it has the potential to go so wrong in so many ways! 🤣
